Kutless Re-Signs With BEC Recordings

Since signing to BEC Recordings in 2001, Kutless has been transformed from a new rock band to a staple artist in the industry that has multi-format, top-charting hits and has sold millions of records. BEC Recordings is proud to announce that Kutless has re-signed and will continue their ministry along with the Seattle-based label.

“Kutless is a perfect example of the type of artists we want to continue to work with at BEC Recordings: ministry-minded, quality music and a strong work ethic,” shares Brandon Ebel, President of Tooth & Nail Records / BEC Recordings. “We are thrilled that we are officially continuing this relationship with Kutless as one of our flagship artists for BEC. We have been there from the beginning with the band and are excited to see what the future holds.”

The Portland, Oregon-based Kutless has released seven studio albums (Kutless 2002, Sea of Faces 2004, Strong Tower 2005, Hearts of the Innocent 2006, To Know that You’re Alive 2008, It Is Well 2009, Believer 2012) on BEC Recordings. Kutless has two RIAA Gold-selling albums for Strong Tower and Live From Portland. The band has had 12 No. 1 radio singles across all formats including their major hits “Strong Tower,” “What Faith Can Do” and “Carry Me To The Cross.”

In 2012, Kutless released their most recent studio release, Believer, to much media and sales acclaim debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Christian & Gospel Chart as well as No. 1 on the iTunes Christian Albums chart.

Launched by original members Jon Micah Sumrall (lead vocals) and guitarist James Mead, the band formed first as a modern rock/worship band at Warner Pacific College in Portland in 2000. Kutless signed to Tooth & Nail/BEC in late 2001 and released its self-titled debut the following year, which went on to become the fastest-selling debut in the label’s history.

Kutless Military Mission Project

Kutless has announced the Kutless Military Mission Project, which is a partnership with Operation Heal Our Patriots, a project of Samaritan's Purse that ministers to service members of all U.S. military branches. After touring around the world, Kutless has had the privilege of meeting many men and women serving in the nation's armed services. Recognizing the sacrifice that those individuals have made, the guys want to give back to the troops.

"We have gotten to meet and interact with service members stationed everywhere from Alaska to Germany, and we are grateful for the stories they have shared with us," shares frontman Jon Micah Sumrall. "Hearing their struggles and stories of sacrifice has both inspired and encouraged us. We hope that our music continues to be a blessing and an encouragement to all of our countries’ service members, but we desired to do more to try and help and impact those who have sacrificed so much for all of us. That is why we created the Kutless Military Mission."

The Kutless Military Mission Project is a two-fold ministry. They have formed a program to give away free concert tickets for active and retired military members and their spouses. It is the band's hope that these tickets will give these military families an opportunity to be encouraged and refreshed as they enjoy the concert.

Secondly, Kutless will be donating a portion of all merchandise proceeds to Operation Heal Our Patriots. At each show, the band will be helping to create awareness about this project by promoting it at their merch table with a banner and informative brochures. The band believes in how this organization through Samaritan's Purse is taking the right approach to help the military members and their families.

After a successful 2009 release that spawned the mega-hit single “What Faith Can Do,” Kutless will be releasing a new studio album titled Believer next month on February 28 (BEC Recordings). The album is produced by Grammy-nominated Chris Stevens as well as David Garcia (TobyMac, Mandisa, Carrie Underwood) and Dave Lubben (worship leader, Kutless). Kutless Is Set To Release Their New Christmas Album

Kutless is wrapping up another great year with the release of their first Christmas project on October 4 (this coming Tuesday) entitled "This Is Christmas". This album is filled with four classic holiday songs along with two original Kutless Christmas tunes (“This Is Christmas,” “Beautiful”). There will also be a 10-song exclusive version available at Wal-Mart this season. Kutless is touring heavily this fall as part of the “One True God," Winter Jam and the “Very Merry Christmas” tours.

"The Christmas season is one of my favorite times of the year," shares Kutless frontman Jon Micah Sumrall. "It is a special time for us to enjoy family, festivities, and gift giving but most importantly to remember the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. My hope is that This is Christmas will be an encouraging and festive reminder of why we celebrate Christmas. Truly Jesus is the reason for the season."

The band will be following-up to the Christmas album with a brand new 2012 studio release. Kutless is putting the finishing touches on this new project with producers Chris Stevens (TobyMac, Mandisa, Carrie Underwood) and Dave Lubben (worship leader, Kutless).

Releasing their worship project "It Is Well" Kutless has inspired fans across the country with their No. 1 hit “What Faith Can Do.” This single topped five radio formats -- CHR, AC Mon, AC Indicator, Inspo as well as spent eight weeks at the top on the National Christian Audience Chart (the most popular Christian song ranked by airplay audience impressions). We recently honored the band with commemorative plaque for the success (photo below).

About “What Faith Can Do”
This is a song of encouragement to all that God is here, and His power is real. From the beginning this song and album has touched fans. The single remained at the top on the iTunes Christian chart for weeks and digital single sells are now nearing 200k. The slideshow for “What Faith Can Do” on the band’s YouTube page has been viewed almost 500K times.

“We hoped the song would do well and open the gates for the record, but we've been so thrilled with how much people have connected with the song,” Kutless’ guitarist Nick De Partee shares about the band’s response to the radio single. “The fact that we're in a hurting time in the country, a lot of people have been looking for hope now more than ever.”
